Tomorrow's Hot Jobs

1. Are any of the jobs mentioned in the article of interest to you? (Why?)

None of the jobs mentioned in the article were not of interest to to. My strengths do not lie in any of those areas. Furthermore, my interests lie in other places. In addition, the salary of these jobs does not seem enough to support my needs. Boomers of these jobs will be retiring as the generation after them retires. The gap created would be time where the younger generation come in and take over the job of the older generation. Lastly, the negatives of the jobs mentioned is far greater than the positives that they offer.

2. How is the employment boom mentioned in the article good for you?

The employment boom that is mentioned in the article is good for me and the other younger generation. The article states that by the time the boomers retire is the time when the generation after them retires. That is the time when we, the younger generation take over the positions that the older generations once held. The gap that is created is that time. When this happens, skills, services, goods, positions and so on are in high demand. These positions are taken and filled in by the young generation (us), which results in the older generation retiring. That is why the employment boom mentioned in the article is positive for us.

3. How could the boom be a bad thing?

Although the boom could be positive for us, it can also be negative in certain ways. We may get jobs but there would be a side effect. One of the biggest structural changes in business in recent years has been the flattening of corporate hierarchy. This flattening of corporate hierarchy decrease the opportunity for people to advance higher up the ladder to higher positions in the company. In addition, due to funds for education, you may be forced to take up jobs that you do not like. By doing something that you don't like, you would not be able to do your best and may, in rare instances, be fired from job. In addition, if you don't have the skills or the expertise, you may not even get the job. Lastly, most of the article is based on statistics, which is sometimes inaccurate. Acting based on misinformation can prove disastrous. The jobs mentioned in this article are only a few of the many that are in the world. Try to take advantage of the employment boom when it occurs and you will eventually find something!
